There's some one selling a clutch cover on face book that's been heavily drilled out for weight it's also had the starter motor cover removed. How many people go down this root it seems a touch risky leaving it open to the elements too me.whats your guys opinion
Cheers

It is fine for racing as race tracks are fairly clean areas. Not so good for rallying or even road use, but then you wouldn't do this for a road or rally car because the ultimate weight saving is not so critical.

I chopped the nose off the starter motor housing on the wok as it was interfering with the charge cooler pipes.
Holes in the wok can be weight saving, but also helps remove the heat from heavier clutches.

Surely there's a risk of grit getting in and causing damage or atleast accelerated wear?

There's always a risk with opening it up.  It's whether or not that risk is tolerable and as low as reasonably practicle. I haven't put holes in my cover as the RTS clutch is apparently very good at distributing heat and my charge cooler pipes cover up the hole that is perpendicular to airflow, so I feel i've managed that risk.

Yeah I suppose there's a level of risk modifying any parts. Cheers for the thoughts lads

Probably like a lot of mods, maybe they look cool* but is it needed/worth it/an improvement.........

(*That is usually down to personal opinion)

While it reduces weight a little, it's done for cooling of the Flywheel and Clutch.
