Hi All

Hope you can help

I have an issue with the relay pack clicking on and off resulting in fuel pump not kicking in.

If i hold the relay pack switch down with finger the pump kicks in,

bought a brand new relay pack from minispares and still the same problem so its not the relay pack

tried disconnecting battery to re set computer

Could it be the fuel purge valve next to the wiper motor ?

before i go buying loads of parts to try has anybody else had the issue

car is . 1993 rover mini SPI

Fuel pump is fine

relay pack is fine

all fuses are fine

been looking at this for the last 3 weeks

cheers

Paul (Flintshire)

You only normally hear the fuel pump clicking when you first turn ignition on. Can't say I have heard it after. Is it the black relay pack you have checked or the yellow one next to the fuel cut off switch?

Hi

Its not the fuel pump clicking its the relay pack (black)

Fuel pump works fine when the clicking stops from the relay pack (black)

the relay pack is premaritally clicking away, its a brand new one and does the same as the old one did.

weird this one ???

cheers

I would check for a bad connection on the main feeds. battery earth and positive ,and solinoid connections.

When the relays close they put a load on a bad connection causing it to fail and the relay drop out.

How bad a connection is is usually proportional to the load you try and put through it. It may be able to carry enough power for the relay coil but not the load its switching.

The MFU aka relay pack is described in the pinned thread http://www.theminifo...-functionality/

The relay for the fuel pump is controlled by the ECU, so check wiring continuity, earths and crank sensor connection. Your getting an intermittent drop in the earth causing the relay to drop out.
