Good evening, I have a rover mini year 1990 automatic. Can you suggest the best oil and filters to change for the engine and transmission and where to get them.
Regards Barry

Someone will confirm but I believe a 10w40 MA2 (wet clutch motorcycle oil) is what to use. Use a Fram or Mann filter (I use these on my manual transmission cars and they do the job)

Use a local motor factors instead of Halfords or Euro car parts

Halfords is too expensive and don't allow returns on oil filters if they've been ordered for collection.

For those reasons I always use my local suppliers for service parts and as we shop locally we support local, often well established small businesses

If you haven't already have a look at http://autominiregister.proboards.com/

There's quite a bit on oil over there but this seems to be a massive subject on a lot of forums.

Yes I've never been a real fan of Halfords but they were handy late Saturday afternoon when I needed a battery for a Focus.  It's always after everywhere else closes Saturday lunchtime that you need something isn't it.

I always used Unipart when they were part of Rover.  The service was fantastic.  The name's still around but it's not the same anymore.

I used to use Castrol gtx 10w40. And changed it regularly. I think the regularity is important.
