Has anyone ever put this system on an A - Series? I am aware that this was used on various other cars like Truimphs, Maseratis, Aston’s and Jags. I’m just not a fan of EFI.

The BMC Works Team used Lucas Injection very late in their days. I think a kit was available through Special Tuning. Many others ran this gear too.

Tecalemit also did mechanical Fuel Injection that some fitted to their Racing Minis 'back in the day'.

While there are a few people who still use this gear on their Minis to this day, both have been out of production for a very long time now and so the Injection gear and parts are very very thin on the ground.

Bosch many years ago also made Mechanical Injection, but I'm not aware of anyone who's fitted it to an A-Series Engine.

Maybe Deadsquare might have some experience to pass on?

I presume you have either a seven or eight port head, the last time I saw a kit ( not complete) it sold for around 2k then you would need to get some one to set it up etc. I very much doubt you would get it through an mot if you need an emissions test. If you want to make your own the early Bmw 2002ti had mechanical f.i the service cost alone for the metering unit is over £800.00 with very few people doing that type of work, all that cost and hassle for something that will be less efficient than a fully electronic set up and no doubt a real pig to drive. If your not on a seven/eight port then jenvey sell single injector bodies with dual injectors, then all you need is a swirl pot, low and high pressure pump, return line and ECU proberly just over a grand all in if you hunt about.
But your car your choice.

Why would anyone want to fit a complex mechanical fuel injection system in preference to a simple electronic setup?

I had a kugelfischer with barrel intakes, running directly off the cam with a spline and modded cam belt cover. its tight on the subframe but worked. I fixed the internal "pear" to deliver a set petrol amount.

If I did a MK2 then i would keep the water temp control unit that was fitted to it and use that as petrol consuption was mad but then it was a race car.

I'm not a fan of filling up every couple of hundred miles but I've found the concept to be quite efficient and it certainly makes the car run better ... or maybe just run!

A well set up carb will get 250 miles to a tank if on a cruise
