I’m wanting to replace the headliner in my mini soon and wondering if anyone on in the bristol area has done this before? Ive watched a few vids on it and read some threads about it also so have a rough ideas so I’ve got clips to hold it when stretching it but not sure if to use double sided tape or if I should use a glue, but heard it can dry to fast? Any help or tips will be very much appreciated

Get yourself a tin of good contact glue and a few cheap 1/2 inch stiffish brushes. I certainly wouldn't use double sided tape.

Did mine 6 months ago, it's not the easiest of jobs if you try to rush it so take plenty of time, you need lots of clips and evostik contact adhesive. Be careful around the A pillars and door pillar where you have to fold the headlining under it's self as the glue can melt the paint, test it on a small area 1st, and get some glue remover and cotton buds to remove any glue that gets on the lining.

It definitely sounds like the most nightmarish job that can be done on a mini! ? evo stick, stiffish Brush and glue remover and lots of patients really not looking forward to this! Anyone close to bristol that fancies giving a hand? Lol

Got to do this on my Mini Marcos at some point...won't be easy but needs to be done as the current headlining is basically only stuck around the edges!

I used spray adhesive from a carpet shop, paint won't burn and the glue is easy to remove as long as it's not left on too long

spray glue works great, i did this about 1 month ago. took about 4 hours in total. i put the glass in 24hours later. its fiddley but slowly works best. clean hands and white spirit removes excess glue.

I watched a car trimmer guy install mine (purchased it from Newton) and he used contact adhesive. Also he used a hair dryer a lot of the time. I had a sunroof too, he took most of the day and charged me £100 which I thought was good value. Its still in place 6 years later.
