Strange Off Axis Rotation On Rear Wheels

I won't comment on the fact that the backplate was really a b**** to fit with the Alufin drums. I guess everybody knows about that already.
But here is what I noticed: i removed the pads and when i spin the Axis of the wheel i see that it's Travel is slighly oval. Not much(Say half a mil overall) and it does not arm the function of the breaks.
Nothing special on the Wear of pads and drum.
It's the same on both wheel Axis of rotation seem slighly off.
No play in Z. No play on the bearings, no funny noise. No nothing. Just slighly off.
Is that me just being excessively paranoïd?

Not sure I follow, I assume your alufin drums are something like these: https://www.minispor...rake-drums.html
Are you suggesting there is run out on the ID of the new drums?

Generally poor fitting drums is down to poor preparation of the mating surfaces. And issues with the back plate return catching the drum is often that just being bent over the years of use and abuse.

Hi Curley, yes it's that one. It fits well. No worries there. It's just that the rotation Axis is a bit off. A bit as if it was banged up and therefore the hub spins a tiny bit oval.

Never had issues fitting my Super Minifins. Not heard of any issues with fitting Alufin drums (never heard of Alufin before so more info needed).
Well i got the name wrong but that's it. My back plates were quite banged up. So it was not an easy fit but that's now solved. My problem is that the center of spin of the hub seems to swivel a bit around the expected rotation Axis. Not by much, but still

I wouldn't worry to much about half a mill run out where the drum meets the shoes, it'll clean itself up after some use. If you're having issues with the lip of the drum rubbing on the backing plate its probably stacking of tolerances, the backing plates are not exactly precision made. But it sounds like you've sorted that.
A lot go guys chuck the alloy drums up in a lathe and machine the OD down removing all of the fins, this can help get the OD true. The main reason for fitting alloy hubs is to reduce unsprung weight & the cooling from the fins is marginal, the Mini is just not that heavy on its rear brakes.
