Hi;

Looking at Flywheel Options (getting original lightened v buying new). Med Engineering and Mini Spares both do complete sets (Flywheel, Clutch, Pressure Plate), but the Med Engineering set comes with a heavy duty centre boss where the Mini Spares one does not. The Med kit is also supplied balanced, no mention on the MiniSpares one.

I am also a little confused as to which Mini Spares set I need.

Can anyone offer any thoughts on the Med v other kits, or other options?

I have emailed Med with a view to sending them my Crank and Pulley to get a cost of balancing the lot with the ST1.

I've just fitted a MED ST1 (MPi) kit and excepting the weight reduction the biggest difference over my o/e version is the balancing. The car now vibrates much less at higher revs and is altogether more pleasant to drive - even it there'd been no weight loss I'd definitely go for a well balanced unit.

Hi, I have no experience of either but I do like the fact the MED one comes with the bolts all dynamically balanced as a one off assembly..It might be worth asking them how much "extra" to do your crank and front pulley (with the bolt) as an add on.. but also it does depend on what kinda revs you expect to be pulling .. none of us want a "vibrating" engine but in my opinion there are diminishing  returns on spending money big time on balancing if you are not revving the granny out of it.... I am sure others will disagree though... given unlimited money (if only) I would have the lot lightened and balanced by "someone" who knows what they are doing but usually it comes down to a cost / benefit equation..racing pulling close to 8500 / 9000 revs balancing is a must.. maybe the odd buzz to 5000 / 6000 it may be less critical given the cost :-)

I have emailed Med.

If I send them my crank and pulley, they will balance it for £50 plus £280 for an ST1 Flywheel / Clutch Kit complete.

That sounds like great value. I could check the figures but I think a complete dynamic balance (Rob Walker) of your supplied bits was into 3 figures
