Im losing a hell of a lot of oil!
Mostly running down under timing cover. Could the timing cover be a suspect in a big oil leak or is it more than likely the half moon seal leaking?
On the upside the mini passed its MOT yesterday . It's first for seven years!

You say running down the timing cover which would suggest a leak above the timing cover.

Check the Rocker cover gasket first. I assume its a 1275 lump

1275. Sorry I meant more generally under the timing cover. Then running down onto the sump casing and onto the diff end plates. Pretty much that whole side!

Ah !.............So it's a General leak, not a Major leak, but so long as you don't drive anywhere, it'll remain a Private leak.

Yes likely culprits are the half moon, but check the Crank front pulley damper seal first as that's easier to replace. If its been sitting for ages its possible its "rotted" and been chewed up

I'd say the half moon is less likely as there's nothing to disturb it. Shouldn't be too hard to work out if you pack behind the end plate with something absorbent and she if it gathers more oil from above or below.
