Evening all. Just wondered if I’m the only one who’s had trouble even getting a call back when trying to find a bodyshop to paint a mini shell. Just mentioning that I have a mini needing paint seems to put them off. I don’t get near anyone showing interest to actually quote the job.

So, can anyone help point me in the direction of a good place to get a quote from that has done a good job for them?

I have a good body shell with all the welding done needing final prep and painting. Not a looking for a cheap job at all, just a top job.

I’m in Leicestershire so local would be best.

Cheers

As the.stroker says. The only place to take a mini for bodywork/paint. Check out Mill Road Garage resto's featured on here. Ben_O's work is exceptional.

I had a very similar issue where no-one showed any interest in painting the mini.

Ended up with these guys: https://www.facebook...38855009788063/

They had loads of minis in their garage and were recommended by a work friend who had their old landie done there. They were also excited about painting the car, which for me was the reason I went with them. I am due to pick my mini up in the next week or so, will let you know how it ends up. But so far very positive.

one problem is that they are having to add their work to the prep of someone else. if the prep work was not up to spec their paint will show it up.

but again it all comes down to what you are talking to them about doing.

I am asking for final prep and paint, and I am willing to pay for a proper job.

im 30 miles north of london and my mini shell is currently at a bodyshop for painting.

I went to 3 highly reviewed bodyshops, 2 were more than happy to do the work for 4k, the third said it would be 5k and a 2 year wait so i think they werent too keen on the job.

My mini sounds like it was in pretty much the same condition as yours, all welding done. Underside completely painted and stone chipped so the 4k quote was for interior, exterior, boot and engine bay. 2 soft dents to remove in wing, minor adjustment on the door frame to help the door sit better and prep work involving taking a decent amount back to bare metal.

I always use Adam at eastcote customs without fail his work is perfect and his standards are so high, he has done quite a few cars for me from  parts through to full body shells

This is our beetle he recently painted and prepped. All the other work in the file is mine but the prep, primer, paint is all his work

Just wanted to say I picked the body up at the weekend and I am extremely pleased with the job! Take a look at their facebook for pictures etc. They documented all the work carried out and the finish is excellent.  Would highly recommend!

Feel free to drop me a PM, I could do this and supply a portfolio of my work. I am in the North East but can arrange collection and delivery.

Thanks, I am ery pleased with it. lockyerl on Instagram if you want to see more of it being built up.

Like I said very reasonable 3.5k for paintwork alone which includes inside, out, stonechipped underside and arches.
