Hi,

I've got 94 cooper it's got stage 1 kit, K&N induction kit, heads been ported with bigger inlet valves and 1.5.1 rockers, currently has an RC40 twin box exhaust with CAT, but a baffle has come lose in the back box and sounds really raspy when you get the revs up.

So the question is, what to do, replace the whole system with something else? suggestions appreciated

Or stick with RC40 and just replace the back box?

I've seen the maniflow system looks good and get's decent reviews but is it better than the RC40?

I have been really Maniflow from front to back (LCB, decat, twin box side exit) for over 15 year and really like them. Sound is subjective and since the only thing most people see is the tailpipe, I think the Maniflows rolled tip looks much more "finished" then the simple straight cut of the RC40. I guess that is subjective as well, ha! One complaint I do have is with their flex pipe. It is metal formed into a ball over each other so there it can pivot. I dont like that style at all and went with an RC40, mesh-type flex pipe (this is the pipe that connects the LCB to the rest of system). When I bought my car it had a catted, single box unit. Sounded great but could get loud on long trips. I replaced it (due to a blown motor dumping oil through the entire system) with a twin box...but then decatted it. I would say even without the cat, it is still a quieter then the previous setup but its been ages and maybe I'm just going deaf.

any concerns about decat and emissions test? I heard 1.5.1 rockers on SPI would result in failing the emissions and the CAT is critical to passing, which it did pass a month ago, any thoughts on that? exhaust note volume now is fine frankly the stereo is loud enough you can't hear a thing anyway ;-) performance would be the deciding factor.... (and emissions)

I’ve got a Maniflow on my spi, with lcb manifold, and love the way it sounds.
