I know i have to replace them because the bushes are completely shot. What i would like to know is it possible that if the suspension pin bushes have seen better days could they make the car shake? More so at 35 mph. The Mini is a 1990 998cc.  Thanks.

What you normally find is that the metal sleeves of the bushes itself - rusts onto the lower pin

So - when you manage to get them all apart, this is the scenario you find with the bushes totally shot to bits

You can get the sleeve off - eventually - but the thread of the lower pin is normally a little worse for ware and leaves a lot to be desired

You don't really want to re-use the pin - and replace it with a new commodity. You don't want that pin coming out on you - believe me - disastrous

The original design only uses a lock washer and standard nut for securing. I used to replace with a lock washer and a nyloc nut.

If you are tracking the car or just for piece of mind - drill the pin once secured through the nut - and split pin it for total security

Yes - the car could shake at 35mph because the bushes are useless as you will find out when you get them apart - you will be horrified

Disastrous - my wordy, in fact, deadly.

These days, I do similar, but use a High Grade Flat Washer & Coneloc Nut.
