I looked at putting my Shorrock on a 998, but getting the 'throttle lift' for gear changes seemed too much bother.

Can you ever trust a random person online who'll say a certain component will take xyz power and no more.
Try it and see, it's only an auto box afterall.

I would expect if you tried it you'd have to become an auto box expert fairly quickly.

I believe the boxes vary too with stronger ones under 1275's?

It was quite long time ago, but I have pulled apart several auto boxes, and I don't remember noticing any difference between 1000 and 1300 ones.
As for taking more power, I had no problems when I ran a 731 under an 1100, with the governor suitably adjusted to change at about 6,000RPM.
As I mentioned above, because the carb moves to the end of the supercharger, it is no longer aligned with the governor control rod; this either means introducing a cable, but the cable would have to push as well as pull, or bell cranks, and at the time, I was too busy to build the linkage.

Just wondered if an autobox can handle super charged set up.
Yes. How far? drop guessworks a message and ask.

to be honest there's a few people's opinions I trust on here. Me asking the question like this saves me having to message each one directly and the answers can provide a reference for others in the future. So not as 'random' as you would like to assume, but thanks for your input.Can you ever trust a random person online who'll say a certain component will take xyz power and no more.

Turbo is easier as you can get the kick down linkage past the turbo / manifold etc. Its down to cost, the parts that fail are the bevel gears as the friction plates and bands can be uprated 0.3 to 0.6mu friction thus effectively doubling the torque, but the bevels cannot be uprated .
Clutches of any type rely on the following basic equation.
RxNxFxP
R = mean radius
N = number of surfaces, ie one friction and one reaction face is counted as 1, a conventional mini clutch is 2 faces
F = Friction coefficient
P = Pressure
Sil metric units
