Kattypillas car is having some problems...
its recently started juddering when coming down from the revs.. and when accelerating (only slight juddering) until 3500rpm.
i thought it was because she had put C**p fuel in tank.. so i filled it up with bp optimax.. and ran it around for half an hour.. still not much better.. decided redex in the tank and some on the filter would make a different... yeh it did... very much so.. it make the car quicker but still juddered. lol.
kinda running out of ideas here.... any ideas...
she also tells me the other night she was driving and she heard what sounded like lots of stones being chucked at the car from the front of the car?
but then it stopped... so she cranked up the stereo and thought she heard it again so turned it down.. and she hasnt driven the car again...
its not the gearbox going is it??
quick spec of car
1275... mini 35..
seems standard other than hiff35 carb and k+n cone filter.
electronic ignition...

its got major issues, weve tried to get it setup before and just wouldnt run right, its possibly a problem with the valves.
Edit: also, its not the gasket or at least it wasnt before, did a compression test and all cylinders were fine.

its a hif 44, has a minisport inlet manifold, lcb exhaust and decat.

cheers Dan...
didnt think it was the gasket... couldnt pick up a leek on any of the cylinders, and compression test ran right too. so your right there

see its hard to be able to do anything to her car without knowing what mods are already on it.
timing is out by about 2 degrees... and the carb is running too rich... so its being overfueled.
pancake filter is clogged... so i have a fair amount of work ahead of me.
well if need be.. i have a stage 3 head, could put that on and change the carb. carb seems to be full of muck anyways. and the head is covered in spray paint... not house paint.
so might polish and port the orig.

why change the carb? hif44 is goof for 100BHP, just needs a cleanup and service, not sure about all of the gunk, it was cleaned when we put it on last year.

When Dan took his mini to MLM they were able to tell him he had a crack between certain valves in his cylinder head.

yup the tuning is way off, needle is wrong too, this is the only way it would run, get the timing correct or fueling correct and it wouldnt run, i thaught i was valve clearences but they were fine, never got any further.

knew the needle was prob wrong...
why change the carb? possible i might have my hands on twin carb with trumpets.
as jammy said it might be worth taking to be rolling road'd ive got a mate who can do it for me.
see if i can get him to have a look.
also think there may be too much compression which is another sign that the timing is slightly out... its almost like it struggles to start.
Ill eventually sort it out, even if i have to stick another engine in it. I will have this bloody thing working

that is if kat will let me do anything to her beloved car.... she might have objections if i take it to peices in our garage.
