I'm putting in a new cam in which needs to be set at 107 deg. Measured with a dti and I currently have 105 deg. I've read about chain stretch and adding 2 deg and all, but I'm putting in a new iwis chain with a new tensioner. Should I get a 2 deg offset key, or will the chain really stretch over time to give me the 107 deg?

I would leave it as it is, the chain will stretch, I dont use a tensioner but up to you.

What cam are you fitting ?   If it is no hotter than an Evo 001,  just fit it.  If you are going full race, then every little is worth striving for.

It is roughly fair to say that the nearer to standard, the less critical the cam timing.

It actually is the evo001 cam. I'm not building a race car or anything so I'll leave it as is. Thanks for the answers!

I ran an Evo001 in an 848 this summer, and, while for many of today's drivers, I think that it is maybe better suited to 1000cc upwards, it is more tractable than I expected, and makes for a spritely drive.

Unlike the few hours that a full race engine does between overhauls, I use the tensioner where I can, on the theory that "Every Little Helps"

It would be interesting, should you ever fit a vernier cam sprocket, to see if you notice a difference with 'spot-on' timing.

a couple degrees advance will skew the torque curve slighty toward the bottom end, so not a bad idea to do for a road car.
