Hi all,

Planning on buying a set of four new tyres, I have an 1999 mpi sportspack, 175/50/13 tyres. I know there isn’t a wide choice but wondering if anyone has any recommendations, she is a daily driver, currently looking at the YOKOHAMA A539 on mini spares.- https://www.minispar...px|Back to shop

I have those 539's on my car in 175/50-13, I like them. they seem to wear well too....MiniSpares had the best price on them when I bought mine too.

Nankang as1 is a good budget tyre, not as good in the dry but better in the wet than the yoko IMO

A friend uses the Nankang as1 tyre, they're good for the price when compared to Yokohamas. If your in the UK try blackcircles.com for a good price. Black circles fitting costs are a bit high imo, so when i used them, I got the tyres shipped to the fitter and then worked my deal for fitting with them... I ended up saving £35 over the Black Circles fitted price.

I have bridgestones on mine. Were alright but i felt that the 13"rims/tyre sets pulled you all over the road...

I'm in the US, so I'd be buying them and having them shipped. One of my Minis has 10's the other can run either 12 or 13's

I was thinking of doing the tour of Iceland, and the roads there are made from crushed volcanic rock, so you need the deeper tread and harder rubber of an old fashioned mud and snow tire, not the new soft rubber of today's all season snows. Nobody in the states carries anything in these sizes that's road speed rated, just tires for quads and garden tractors.

Thank you all for the advice, decided to go with blackcircles Nankang AS1’s, tyres and fitting £213. I will definitely keep a close eye on the garage to make sure they jack the car up correctly! Haha. I will provide an update on how the tyres feel in a few weeks
