This may seem a silly question but I'm trying to find out whether the works door squares in off white were a gloss or matt finish? I'm trying to have a set made up but for a white car and am having them done in black but can't decide if they should be matt or gloss.
Thanks.

It varied over the years.

The early cars used white Fablon stick-on material. Later cars had the squares sprayed on and they were usually Old English White gloss-finish.

Black squares are not allowed in competition as they are FIA/MSA mandated white with black numbers.

My son had a white 970 'S' fully prepared rally car and we used 1/4" wide black tape to create a 'white' square and were then able to use the regulation black numbers.

You will not ever see a genuine race or rally car with anything other than white squares.
