Hi all, first appologies if this is of no interest to anyone.
My name is Tom i'm 21 and MINI MAD. I have my Mini YPE(wipey) in the garage as we speak undergoing a full resto. But the reason i am writing this is as i need your help. I currently work in areospace, building speed/torque probes for jet engines and its is driving me mad.... I Have a BTEC national in Motorsports and plenty of mini experiance all being wasted. I am lookig for a job working with minis' or in motorsports where i can really get my hands dirty. however this is not as easy as u may think. If you think U can help or know someone who can please please contact me.
I am currently in Hampshire in the alton area but i will relocate anywhere. I dont want to go work for a garage as im looking for something that will keep me going every day, something different. I was planning on going into business building custom mini's however someone has beaten me to it www.retro-minis.co.uk so yea anything or anyone u know gimmi a shout, im very enthusiastic and can do anything i put my mind to.

I'd still look into building custom minis. Just because some one else is doing it doesn't mean you can't, and there can never be too many minis on the road!

To get a job in motorsport you need years of experance working on road cars before they will let you work on any sort of motorsport car, unless you are VERRY lucky and manage to get an apprentaship.
The worl of motorsport is risky, you could loose your job very easaly as employees are expendable.you could get a job in a clubman team, but you would be paied basicly nothing, if atall.
I am a massive motorsport fan and i have been since i was really little and i have always wanted to be in mortorsport team, i did mechinical engeerining at collge, but i realised that it was not possable.
I now work for LLoyds Registr as a suryeying engeenier and i am building a mini up to compete in rally championships, so i am my own rally team!
I would say dont mix work with pleasure.
Thanks.

bam has pretty mush hit the nail on the head working in motorsport is kinda seen as a privalige and you dont get paid well for it its mainly about who ya know not what ya know if you get my drift if your willing to re locate just search the internet for any places that seem like they are worth a go and hassle them send cv's ask for work placements explain that you want to get your foot in the door and if your as good as you say you are you'l find a jobskills like engine building and suspension set up take years to build up good knowlage but general race car prep and engine conversions seem to be a good way to go...
