In the middle of changing the oil on my mpi today.
Took the filter off and found that the filter was completely dry.
I have never had any leaks. Oil level is spot on. Never had low oil pressure. The light on the dash comes on at start up and goes out after a few seconds after it starts up.
I haven’t got an oil cooler fitted and the oil system is not modified
What’s the likely reason for oil not to flow into the filter??

wrong filter used.
should have a one way valve in it to stop any oil flow back.

It’s possible. Bought from Halfords using the correct information so should be correct.
Going to collect a new Bosch filter tomorrow and will compare them

The filter I removed is a HOF 213W
I bought a new Bosch filter from Halfords. Their system told me to buy a 0451 102 056 (the in store assistant looked up this filter on their computer system in the store) but won’t fit to my block. Hole is too small for the threads
So have now ordered another new Bosch filter via Euro Car Parts.

If anyone is interested, it appears that the correct Bosch part number is 0451 104 026
