Hello people!

My AC doesn't work properly, condenser fan doesnt spin, and blower throws hot air. Previous owner told me the car needed just a recharge but I doubt it. Anyways the system in my car is R12 (garages won't recharge this type of freon anymore as legislations prohibited), reason why I will be replacing the compressor with an R134a.I also got a new condenser and fan.

I am missing just the receiver drier. But I can't find an NOS at a reasonable price.

My question is, can I use a generic drier receiver, or one from a different manufacturer? Does it have to be R134a specific?

Asking before taking the car to the shop.
Any experiences on this?

I have attached some images of the parts I have and the 2 types of OEM receivers from Unicla.

Help appreciated!

I think it may be more to do with the oils within the AC gas, but this isn't my area.

You need to flush the old components to remove the old oil. There are "flush kits" available at the auto parts stores. You also need to replace all the O rings with R134a compatible ones, they are usually blue.
