Minispares Evo Cams

What are peoples experiences with the mini spares evo cams? I am looking for something a little bit more spicy than the SW5 and I can't ignore the good value of the evo cams.
I will be using the cam on a +040 bored 1275gt block with a 36/31 valve head aiming for a compression ratio of 10.5:1. Will be using an HIF44 to start with too but can change to twin hs4 setup eventually.
Any thoughts or experiences will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Rich

Performance improvements when changing to a different, probably hotter cam often require a change in final drive ratio.
Take a look at the cam performance graphs for each cam you are considering and compare it with that which you have. That will give you an idea of what final drive change you might need to make
I have found the Evo001 to be excellent and when needed I shall change the cam in my 1330 cc road-rally 1990 Cooper 1275 for the Evo001 running a 3.44:1 FDR with what sounds like a similar head to yours. I am also switching to twin HS4's from the HIF44. I might actually go to a 3.76;1 fdr for better acceleration, but I am running original ratio Mk.1 Cooper 'S' gears which have a slightly up-rated 1st, 2nd & 3rd gears.

I have the Evo001 in my 1310, 3.44 final drive, and 35.6/29.3 valves, and and HIF44. Only comparison I have is the 1275 that was very well exhausted before I rebuilt the engine, but this build pulls nicely. One of these days I will get it on a dyno and dialed in better and see how much power she makes but it does well in the mountains and curvy roads.

No idea on those cams .sorry, but in terms of carburettors, i am of the belief that a single HIF44 will give similar power to twin HS4's with fewer little niggles. I actually like the look of the twins and have had them performing very well when mated to a maniflow steel manifold- so i am not against them at all. It is possible/ maybe even probable that vizarded Twins running in FIA race configuration will outperform the single, but for simple everyday driving with access to all the goodness your engine can produce, don't discount the HIF44. I am not of the belief that twins need constant tuning- so i don't use that against them at all. My experience in a 1310cc road car with a 260-266 degree cam ( cant recall exactly) is that the HIF44 doesn't get caught out having to clear its throat going from part throttle to what. ( such as going through fast roundabouts) - in the twins my AFR ratios were fine but despite changing springs, dashpot oil and needles i couldn't get the twins to respond quick enough if i was sloshing the fuel about.( i was only running 9.75: 1 CR) - and once knowing this you can adjust driving to accommodate for this .... a bit like early versions of drive by wire throttles

Did a build with a MiniSpares 1380 and an MSE4 (?) head inlet and decent exhaust and a 3.1 and HIF44 in the Midas. Nice burble at tick over and does fine on the Autobahn. Very nice cam.

Thanks for the info. I've decided to go with the mini spares evo001. Currently running a 3.44 diff so can always change later to a 3.1 if needed.
I like the 3.44 diff as it seems to have a good amount of pep, my only issue I have with it is taking the highway to the mountains cruising at 4k rpm's can be slightly deafening, one of these days ill load up the boot with some sound deadening material lol.

4k that is nothing. i used to charge down the Mway at over 6k often.

Got an Evo 1 in my 1310. Can't say much yet because it still needs running in. the engine builder said it'd be quicker than an 'S'
He told me to use an HIF44 with a BBW needle, and I've got a Howley inlet manfold with a K&N filter and a 1.75 inch maniflow system. sounds ace
