I've a 75 1275gt. I've manually operated the clutch arm set the throw out stop and set the clearance at the adjustable stop. At rest the gap between the throwout stop and the casing is 2.75mm, is that about what you'd expect?

The sequence for setting is as follows:

Back off the centre overthrow nut and its locknut.

Remove the return spring at the top of the arm.

Pull the arm away from the engine and set the stop bolt to give a gap of zero.

Operate the clutch and check that the linear movement at the top of the arm is between 0.5" and 0.6". (If it is less than 0.5", investigate to find the fault).

Pull the arm away from the engine & set the stop bolt to give a gap of 0.020". Use the lock nut on the bolt to lock this gap.

Press the clutch pedal right down and with it held down screw the overthrow nut in until it just touches the clutch cover casing.

Release the clutch pedal and screw the overthrow nut in one further FLAT. Lock it at that position with the overthrow lock nut. Take care not to snap the ball-end of the arm off when doing this final tightening.

The clutch is now accurately set. Small adjustments of the clutch 'bite' point may be made by slightly altering the stop bolt clearance. For example, some people set it to 0.018" or 0.020". That is fine

Pretty sure the book says "pump" the pedal 6 times before setting the stop nuts...
