I'm trying to workout which starter motor I need (number of teeth) to match my flywheel. I have a lucas starter motor older type and the engine won't turn over via the starter. I have tested the starter, which is good. The battery is good and I replaced the solenoid for good measure to no avail. It seems that the starter is engaging but not able to turn the flywheel. Any ideas please it's driving me mad

What type of flywheel do you have? Or how many teeth does it have.

Same info for the starter?

11 teeth is wrong for an inertia starter.  9 is for old minis, sometimes a 10 tooth gets fitted as it was fitted to Metros I believe.  11 tooth is wrong.  Age of mini and type of engine would help
