Morning all. Like many of you, I'm using a bit of spare time to tinker with the mini. My shell is due back in a week or so and I'm cleaning up a few bits and pieces and getting ready for a Minispares order. I stripped the car myself but my local mechanic took the engine out for me. I have this lot below, which all seem to be a mixed bunch. All but one have purple poly bushes (one of them mangled). Just wondering if these are the correct steadies, and if so am I best reverting to standard rubber bushes? And lastly, are they all the same part number from Minispares?

Many thanks,

Rich.

Go standard rubber bushes on all of those, it will make a massive difference.

People have been lured into plastic bushes, because they're told that rubber ones wear out.

They replace ££s worth of tyres, why are pennies worth of bush different ?

Quite agree, so long as decent rubber ones are available. Just wasn't sure whether they were best left or put them back how they should be.

So should they all be these 1 piece versions? The note says they need to be modified for the lower stabiliser, so makes me wonder what they should be as standard?

Get the Evo ones, the first one you list. Factory fitted to mpi's.
Cant remember if the bolts on the lower one are the same as they might be bigger and this won't fit.
Just check the bolt size on the extra ones and the lower steady.

Thanks MacGyver, appreciate it.

Are some of the four steadies not original then? Extra?

Out of my photo, which ones are the upper/lower? Just definitely need a new bush for the one at the top of the photo. Don’t mind ordering four evo’s and ending up with a couple of spares but I want to make sure I fix that damaged one.

Thanks for the replies folks.

The bottom two in your picture are standard, the top two are aftermarket.

As above really, black one is front lower right (in the direction of driving, so starter side.), gray is the top steady (it has a 'proper' way round when you put it back on.), the two gold ones are aftermarket bottom rear gearbox steady's.
The 3 lower steady's might not accept the one piece bush as the 'hole' in the middle might be of a different size. I don't have my engine on hand right now, but I will on Monday, so unless someone comes along with confirmation of sizes I'll have a look and come back to you as I have the same add-ons on my freshly built-up engine.
I say fresh but it's been sitting, waiting, for about 4years now for me to get cracking with the bodywork... actually my profession... I just spend all my time fixing other people's cars. ?

Yeah, use the kkf101320 bushes, these are standard mpi fitment and are really good, if it's somthing sporty then there's the harder evo version, again really good but will transmit a bit more vibration.

I believe these fit into both the top and bottom standard steadys it's only the after market bottom rear steady kits that need them molding as they have a larger bolt trough them, in which case it's just a matter of drilling them out (5/16 to 7/16" I think)

Brill, thanks for all the replies folks, really appreciate it. Currently working my way through various bits and bobs, cleaning and painting as I go and only just noticed the damaged/mismatched bushes.

MacGyver - my project has been similarly slow due to the shell being a low-priority job in a busy body shop, but if there are any positives to come from the current situation it's that the chap now has no other work on, so is on mine full time (in isolation, at his home) so it's now just about finished. Hence me rushing around sorting out other bits and pieces.
