Unfortunately I wasn't able to bring Bertie along to Beaulieu to sit alongside the Mk1, but while I was there, I did manage to find a Corgi model of a Mini Neon which was pretty cool!

I did have a good wander round but didn't see any actual Neons parked at the show, so I kind-of wish I'd brought mine along now - while my NZ-registered Mk1 is unique in its own way, there wasn't exactly a shortage of Almond Green Mk1s with OEW roofs!

Along with the model, I did also manage to get hold of some Innocenti door pockets at the show, which I've not snapped a photo of yet. The plan for the interior includes fitting the centre console and retro audio gear, as well as acquiring new Monte Carlo door cards in black, along with new carpets, nicer door furniture, and some bits to tidy-up of the dash area (which I might change from grey to black, not 100% sure on that at the moment!). So the Innocenti door pockets should match that "theme" really nicely I think. The exterior of the car looks really smart now, so it's time to turn some attention to the interior  :D

It's been a while since I last updated this thread, as a lot of my focus has been on swapping out the engine on my Mk1. Owning two minis is a lot of work!

That, along with a few other reasons, is why I feel it's now the right time to think about selling Bertie to a good new home. I'll be genuinely sad to see this lovely little Mini go, but I have to be sensible and practical - plus with it being in such nice condition now, it would be a real shame to keep daily driving through another winter.

I've already swapped the original seats back into the interior so that's now back to how it left the factory, I just need to swap the original steering wheel back on as well (I'll be keeping the MOMO Prototipo). Then a decent clean and general check-over before getting some up to date photos and the car will officially be on the market.

As a preliminary guide before I do create a proper "listing", I'll be looking for £7250 which I think is fair given the current values of a genuinely solid Mini which drives well. Then I can get a cheap and cheerful runabout as my new daily, and invest a bit more into the Mk1 so at least I won't be without a Mini after selling this one.

Bertie is officially up for sale, have just posted a sale thread on TMF which can be seen here: https://www.theminif...over-mini-neon/

I'll be very sad to see this car go but I'm hoping it will find a good new home with a caring owner.

Bertie has now been sold - the new owner will be coming to collect on Saturday morning. I'm not sure if they'll frequent the forum to give any more updates, but before then I'll be taking the little Neon out for a "last hurrah" this Wednesday for the Midweek Minis meet on Portsdown Hill. Hopefully this nice weather holds up, and I can take a few decent photos before saying goodbye on the weekend.
