At first I thought it might be part of the aftermarket alarm, but I’m not sure, it has a connector that goes to 2 brown/orange wires that are taped to the loom that go into the bulkhead.

Any ideas?

Ah right, thanks guys.

Question why bypass it?

And how, connect the two wires together and remove it altogether?

I used to like the dim dip back in the day. I used it deliberately. I thought it looked cool when driving round town.

Apparently it's not good for the bulbs though?

My friend who used to be a Rover tech has come back to me and said:

"It’s a euro-safety thing. When you turn the sidelights on it also allows some voltage through to the dip beam filament of the headlight bulb thus putting the headlight on too and being a bit safer."

It basically uses dip beam as side lights. Simply unplugging the resistor will work, but still leaves a live wire terminated.

To bypass the relay and resistor simply connect the blue/red to blue/brown wires
