Hi all, I’m looking for some expert opinions and advice on my planned 1293 fast road build spec. Hoping to start buying parts for it soon as money allows.

Bill Richards 1293 A+ short block from Minispares which comes with:
Evo001 camshaft
21253 pistons
Cast duplex timing gear
Standard crank and rods balanced

Standard rockers
Twin HS4 on maniflow inlet and MED stub stack
Maniflow stage 2 lcb and 1.75 inch single box exhaust
Minispares road/rally steel flywheel
Minispares electronic distributor which they recommend with the evo1 cam
I’m thinking a 9.75/1 compression ratio

KAD Road100 head
35.7x29.5 valves
200lb double valve springs
Ported and polished to suit application

Standard gearbox with Minispares X-pin diff and central oil pickup
3.44 final drive
Minispares performance clutch and orange diaphragm

I’m hoping for a reliable 85-90hp with good torque throughout. Do you think that this is achievable with this spec?
Will 200lb double valve springs be too much?
Would it be worth going for a steel duplex over cast?
Would ARP head studs be recommended or will Minispares competition head studs be alright?
Any expert opinions and advice or anything that I’ve missed?

Cheers

I’d expect the springs to be too strong - I’m sure MS will be able to provide what poundage is needed.

If you’re on a budget, the advantage of steel over cast is minimal. Either one you will need to measure cam timing then correct with offset keys. The alternative is a vernier adjustable set up"

MS competition studs will be fine for that build.

Don't forget to get the flywheel assembly balanced on the crank. And check/adjust the clamping force.

I've just had a look at the head on the KAD site, they'll say they'll open out the chambers to your spec so decide what CR you'll need.
I agree with Graeme, those springs do sound a bit overly Ian Botham

You’ve certainly got expensive taste ! Lol

The 200lb figure quoted will depend on the installed height and full lift figure of the cam/rockers. For example It will most likely be 200lb on the nose at 0.500” lift when installed at 1.400” height or similar.
For the Evo cam and standard rockers the Minispares 525 springs are adequate.

Phil.
