Could someone please explain to me the pros and cons of fitting a beam axle instead of subframe and am I right in thinking that you could use just the front of the subframe. If this has been covered before I apologise.

If you are circuit racing:-

The Pros are less weight and less inside rear grip when cornering.

The Cons are work and expense.

You would fabricate much lighter suspension mounting points than the front portion of a subframe.

A “Beam” axel
road car no pros at all.

cons, linear rate coil springs will Reduce usability of the car such as only two people and no luggage. Rear arches need reinforcing. The schlock mount is not designed for the load and will bend.

a subframe

car can be used as designed.

chopping up a subframe. Sure but yo7 would have to make sure it can no longer pivot on the front mounts. Not light.
