Hi all

maybe a daft question.... on my spi where does the feed for the expansion tank come from? I’m guessing it’s the radiator overflow?

apologise mine was disconnected and dry as a bone so wasn’t sure where it feeder from

thanks in advance

As far as my knowlegde goes a spi does not have an expansion tank? the radiator overflow just spits it out on the streets..

‘the canister is there and there’s a white bottle also - pretty sure it’s an expansion tank

All Spi have an expansion bottle under the wing above the shock and you may find you need it in hot weather only. If dry you should check that the inlet pipe isn't blocked as they tend to fill up at the bottom with crud. To remove it there is a nut on the inner wing just beside the rad cap.   They should be half full in normal use. You have to use a special rad cap ( double seal) or the expansion bottle won't work .

Thanks for that, so would the overflow pipe from the rad lead to this?

And if only needed in hot weather is it worth putting back in place (electric fan on switch etc)

Yes connects to rad overflow.

Having to put the fan on a switch would indicate that the cooling system wasn't working right so yes it is worth fixing right. I've had mine to IMM's in Italy and Portugal and no problems with the heat.
