Getting my 998cc mini city automatic engine ready to put back in my car and noticed the Speedo cable drive gear was sticking out, but it won’t push in far enough. The auto version is just a straight rod and not tapered on the end as in photo it has a key way instead near the gear end. I’ve tried it in a spare 1275cc engine I have and it goes in easy but neither of them will go all the way in the 998 it’s as if they hitting against something about an inch and half in the whole.
