Evening all.

Been working on my MPI transplanted mini around the dash, (which I had bypassed the alarm and immobiliser successfully for the last 18 months).

After reconnecting the battery and firing it up (to check of leaks from the oil pressure gauge, I switched off and all of a sudden the immobiliser has re-activated.

So I've been tracking through the loom looking for a wire thats been trapped or cut and on the loom to the 5AS unit, there is a white wire with a yellow stripe coming from the unit for 6" or so, then stops and I can't find the other end?

I can't find a wiring diagram for the 5AS system, and the only one in the Hanyes diagrams that was white with yellow came from the diagnostics port to the ECU. Anyone know where this wire goes (so I have a chance of hunting it down) or is it the aerial for the 5AS??

According to my information the only thing from the 5AS Alarm which is white with yellow stripe is the aerial.

What other wires are cut or joined together ??

Does the engine crank but not fire, no not crank at all ??

Are you sure the fuel pump is running ??

Phil.

Thanks Phil
The fuel pump is priming, it doesn’t crank and the led goes permanently on (so behaving exactly like the immobiliser should).

So I can ignore the white and yellow wire and carry on looking for the issue else where........

I have also this yellow white wire and my searching gave no results, so I understood that how it was at the begining. Make sure that to tape it around to insulate it from touching the body of the car Possibly its not necessary to insulate it but its safer to do so.

I ended up taping over the end of it to keep it safe.

In the end I had to get my alarm fob refurbished (and a spare new one seemed sensible ) and using the alarm now. Still no idea why it reactivated, but I always intended to get it working at some point so was the kick up the rear I needed

The wiring for 5AS isn’t readily available to prevent bypassing.

It seems quite often that cars which have been “bypassed” suddenly Immobilise when the wring (and power ) is disconnected  and reconnected suddenly remember they need the keyfob .

I have come across this a couple of times recently
