Hello

I am rebuilding an 1275 engine for my Mini and need new piston rings.

Can anyone help me figure out what sort of piston this is ?

The measurement you've taken - is that of the bore or the piston ?

If it's the piston, where on the piston did you take this measurement ?

It’s on the outer edge of the piston

It's a standard Low Compression 1275 Piston.

The current AE Rings don't fit these, but just about any other brand will.

Thanks, so the best thing to do is get new pistons then ?

At the moment the engine is stock with a better camshaft, but for the next season the head will be ported.

I would not bother using them if you are planing on something not standard.

have a good look inside at the opening for the oil from the oil scraper set. Or just pop the rings off. IIRC there are two massive slots cut. One each side. Unlike better standard pistons that have a ring of smaller holes.
