Having pressed the clutch and wound the stop nut in until it touches the clutch cover, you then release the clutch and wind it IN or OUT another flat before locking it?

Some say in (Haynes) and some say out (Calver, YouTube, my mate etc).

Must admit I always screw mine out one flat. I like the clutch pedal to hit the floor, not hang on the throw out stops.

WI’ll not be doing your thrust washers any good.

I lever the arm out manually (not with the hydraulics) until it stops. Hold it there, wind the flanged nut up, release the arm, then wind it in another 1/4 Turn. Lock.

I’m was taking about the 15/16” nuts on the end of the release bearing plunger thread, not the lever arm stop. Small lee 7/16” is 20 thou clearance I believe.

Levering the arm out manually - as per Moke Spider's method - moves the arm further than the hydraulics move the arm so once set the flanged nut then doesn't quite touch the casing with the arm at full travel when using the hydraulics so is set more like imack has done - in my experience.

I like the manual method as you know it's at full travel when you set the stop but it's a bit tricky if the engine's in the vehicle.
