The carpet in my Jap Spec SPi is in excellent condition. However, I would like to strip the interior to have the car repainted. Is it possible to remove the carpet without damaging it? Would I need any glue etc to reinstall it? Thanks.

I think you will have a problem with any carpet, underlay or soundproofing that is glued down. A high temperature contact adhesive is used that is a nightmare to remove without damaging the covering. If the factory soundproofing is in good condition, you might be better of leaving it and painting over it. as the only way to get it off the floor is to heat it and chip it off with a scrapper. Not a five minute job.
