The needle sleeve seems stuck in the piston .. without resorting to something that may damage the needle any thoughts or how to get it to move? (Currently soaking in penetrating fluid).

TIA

Put something through the hole and try to move the holder.

Try putting the piston in a saucepan (other utensils might be available) with very hot water. Different materials expand at different rates. Sometimes the optimum time to try the removal is as it all cools down.

Nicklouse: Tried that but there is only a slot .. the base of the needle holder is below the hole so nothing to push down on ..

Whistler: Will try that this week when SHMBO isn't around so can't see my boiling up engine parts in her new saucepans! :-)

Got it out .. but ended up with brute force ..

The needle holder must have been splayed but over-tightening .. as it just refused until I wrapped the needle in tons of masking tape and gentle levered it out with pliers .. heating didn't work, and a screw driver just made it rotate slightly ...

It wasn't even the needle type I need so that was a waste of time really .. had I know that ... :-)

But many thanks for the suggestions ..
