Recently did a retrofit on my ac system, JDM mini 1991

 

When AC on, I get a squeal sound when accelerating, it disappears gradually as car gains speed.
I recently recharged after 2 of years without using AC.

 

 

Sometimes it happens when in movement but in this case is not loud.

Is this an overcharge of gas, belt tension or clutch? Any thoughts?

I'd check the belt tension and belt condition first.

You may want to chk your alternator belt as well. Had this problem with my mini,no amount of tensioning would stop it from slipping when the air-conditioning was on. The slipping would stop with the ac off, or the engine at a certain rpm range.

There is a small bracket with a curved slot that attaches the alternator to the compressor. The curved slot provides some alternator belt tension adjustment when the alternator bolt is loosened and allowed to slide in the slot. Sometimes this is not enough. However, I recently found the if the bracket bolt on the compressor end is also loosened and the bracket pried away from the compressor, a lot more movement of the alternator and tension can be applied to its belt. All along I thought that the bracket was bolted to the compressor and its other end just rested against the the compressor housing. That does not seem to be the case.

In my case....I changed to a dayco belt (10A0595C) and the slipping disappeared. I think that the angle of the vee on the belt was the problem. I bought the recommended belts from a Japanese seller which didn't help.
