Hi folks

I recently bought this: https://minispares.c...|Back to search

Can someone show me where it goes, and what orientation? Pictures would be ideal.

It’s a 1990 cooper.

Also, the bonnet is new (the old one was rotten) and I noticed that the latch bracket is just tack welded on. Is this normal?

See attached pic.

I think this seal goes on the lip at the front of the bonnet in front of the bonnet catch

It does go onto the lip in front of the bonnet pin. I have never seen one fitted.

The bonnet pin welds are standard

Thanks both.

I think I’ll send it back. There’s a chrome strip on the front of the bonnet, so I don’t understand where the rubber could possibly go.

The seal fits to the rear edge of the front lip. The bonnet catch bracket is spot welded from the factory and the welds hidden beneath the bonnet badge.

Does it work? I always thought most of the rainwater came in throught the front of the grill hence the splash guard, of varying types over the years.

Never really taken any notice of it, it's the 48 year old original factory fitted seal.
I guess it stops rain being driven in between the bonnet and the slam panel and potentially dripping into the distributor cap. Never driven the car without it, I also have the small square splash shield behind the grille.

Thanks imack- maybe I’ll just fit it since I’ve got it.
