Hello,

I’m thinking of reshelling my MPi mini because it’s so rotten. I was wondering if there are many differences with different shells aparts from the inner wings.

Regards

There are differences to the floor, too.

well if you are going to be reshelling your MPi then you will be buying a new shell from Heritage and you can get them to suit your current car.

Yes, inner wings and floor definitely. I broke a low mileage crashed Cooper LE and used all of the parts in my Clubman Estate, so needed quite a few mods. The 3 fuel pipes on the MPI go down the back of the front subframe like the single one on non injection cars but the shell has a channel to accommodate those so that needs doing on an earlier shell. The three fuel pipes are clipped under the length of the floor with plastic brackets on welded studs. There is also the fuse box bracket welded to the r/h inner wing inside the car. Also the carbon canister bracket under the n/s wing. Quite a few extra holes are needed on earlier shells and the bulkhead panel is solid on MPI but has the big aperture on non injection cars. Then there is the SRS bracket on the rear floor (MPI)
Another consideration is that you will be using an earlier shell which would have repercussions with DVLA although I don’t think they issue Q plates any more. Unless of course you bought a brand new Heritage shell, in which case all docs would still be legal.

The front panel is also different to accommodate the front mounted radiator. Bonnet also has the safety catch more central rather than over to the right side.
