I'm buying an old 998 engine to rebuild over the winter, so are there any books out there to guide me through a strip down and rebuild (specifically A series engines)?
Or if not, any websites?
Cheers

i know minisport do a engine building book, but im not sure if its designed just for their brand new engines if you get me, not including stripping or anything else. But you could work backwards?

I've already got that book tom. But it doesn't really have a step by step guide that i'm looking for.
The only A-series DVD i could find on mini films is this: http://www.minifilms...iesbuilder.html
Its for building a 1380, but are the principles for a 998 the same? Don't want to waste £25 on a dvd if its gonna be useless!

Yes, i would recommend it. I enjoyed reading it and learnt alot. Goes into lots of details about modifying and optimising all aspects of your mini, not just the engine.

I'm no mechanic, but i have a haynes and a vizard that i use for reference if i get stuck....
basically get a socket set and get used to taking bits off and seeing how they work and go back together. get some little trays to put nuts and bolts in, a new gasket set etc etc.
If you get stuck, photograph the problem and post it on TMF and someone will give you the answer!!!!
