Hello there! I am in the process of wiring an independent switch for the driving lamps and the fog lamps. I currently have the 4 of them to a single switch and voltage drops once I turn them on.

I was wondering in late minis that came with the 4 spots, what the setup is to turn them on or off as from factory?

Is there a separate switch for the driving lamp and a separate switch for the fog lamp, or on the other hand, the driving lamps are activated by the main headlamp switch?

thank you

Being cynical, for all the light (or lack of it) they emit, you might as well leave them switched off!

Just a suggestion;wire a switch or switches to operate relays which switch the lamps, irrespective of how the factory did it.Wire the switch from the main beam for driving lights and the sidelamps or dip for the fogs so that you can individually turn them on/off.Steve..PS use Google it may have lots of examples.

The factory setup when 4 were fitted, was the 2 middle ones were linked to the main beams - operated by the column stalk, then the 2 outer ones were fogs, operated by the switch. All were linked to relays.

On factory cars with 2 spots, there was only the outside 2 and they were set to work as main beams.

Here is the Rover wiring diagram on 32 of the linked PDF. Page 33 shows the wiring for Japan, where the fog lights must be off for the driving lights to come on with the high beams. Keep in mind that this is for the  MPI or later Japanese SPI with the different earth point and fuse box. However the operation is still the same.

Because I'm using a UK lighting setup (2 fogs + 2 spots), I wired them as per UK diagram instead of the Japanese diagram that uses 4 fogs although mine is a JDM car.
