I'm now considering changin my front drums, as lovely as the are, to disks. Now i do realise i have the seqarch function, and i have used it and it has been helpful. But!

I DEFINATLEY want to keep my 10" wheels, there's no was i'm going to larger 'girlyer' wheels :genius:

so.......what am i best to do? Buy a full 8.4 brake set up and then do the fiesta conversion on it, or shall i grab parts seperatley? and build it from there?

also do i need different drive shafts and is it best get these with the disk hubs as they will be matched???

Meh,... i'm not quite sure what i'm asking lol!
anyone understand?>

Right:

You need disc hubs and CV joints, you can't use the drum brakes ones (no lugs for the caliper)
Drum driveshafts will work, no need to change them.
Ideally I would go for the 7.5" Cooper 'S' conversion, but if budget is tight then see if you can get hold of a second-hand pair.
Alternatively, do the Fiesta conversion.

Should answer it all!!

cheers guys,

it's 1275GT engine with a 286 in it! :genius:

I think i'm gonna haunt ebay for a bit and if the right parts come up then that's what i'll go for. alternatively if anyone has parts i need, sell the to me!

get a full 8.4 setup so you get the hubs and cv's and then get the fester bits

cool, cheers guys!

I'll get the full 8.4 jobby then, this was what i was thinking would be the easier thing to do and then modify it to take fester bits.

can you buy 7.5 disks are will i have to get the 8.4's turned down?

I'm a beasty at setting up and building drum brakes, but disks... never lol!

id go with the 7.5 cooper setup!! purely because its less work!! change the brake hose and chuck it on!!

i think the cooper setup uses the same steering arms as the drums, the cooper shafts are the same as 8.4 items and are readily available and should go straight into your inner pots, the cv's are the same as all mini/metro cv's!!

rebuilding the calipers really isnt hard at all!! you'll see what i mean when u get them apart!! its a few flat sides and some ring seals!! thats about it!!

lots less work than fitting fiesta ones and probably about the same whack by the time everything has been modified to fit the mini hubs!!
