As fitted up until about 1973 part number 37H7034

The July 2020 Mini Cooper Register magazine 'CooperWorld' has a feature with photos on restoring the now rare early 1275GT Chrome eyeball air vents. After a careful dismantling process the bright finish was restored by VMC a company in Chertsey, Surrey using a process called Vacuum Metalising or PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition), the parts were returned in a week and cost was £100 for the pair. I guess this process could also be used on the standard black eyeball vents.

Has anyone here had any experience with VMC before?

I just watched a "Salvage Hunters - Classic Cars" where they had a boot handle for a Volvo sprayed with some kind of specialist Chrome paint - looked pretty good on TV but?

They look really nice, inspiring :)

I am cleaning/rebuilding a pair of eyeball vents for my '71 as I am going back to original dash having removed previous owners wooden dash.

Does anyone have a suggestion for foam sticky tape to replace the foam in the air vent eyeball socket ?

Just looked up the article in the July 2020 MCR magazine but it does not mention anything about the foam in the vents, only that it gathers grit and dust over time and damages the chrome finish on the early 1275GT eyeball vents.
