I thought I'd start a thread for the recommissioning of my RSP Cooper (number 863).
I have actually owend the car since early 2008 when I was 14 my dad bought it as a project for us to get back on the road. It then had been off the road for 8 years dry stored in a garage.
The car has a cracking history file with many receipts including all the genuine JCG accessories including dash board and door cappings.
We had to do all the usuals brakes etc but the shell is on all it's original panels and paint.
We had a few years fun in it and I even daily'd it for a few months. It then went away in the garage in 2013 and is only just seeing the light of day again. With the battery charged,The car fired up on 7 year old fuel!
- The steering rack needs replacing (a minor accident with a pot hole which caused the mini to go away for a few years).
- The front rubber cones have collapsed and left the front very crashy.
- There is a 90s immobiliser/alarm installed that falses and immobilises the car if the fuse is ever put back in. The wiring also needs removing as it looks a mess under the steering column.
In the early 90s is was converted to have electric windows at a cost of £597! The passenger side window motor seems to have become lazy. Hopefully a good lubing will sort.
The drivers recline has got stuck in a very uncomfortable position.
There are a few very minor patches of rust showing. The worst of which being the drivers A panel. Excusable for a 30 year old Rover Mini.
There is more but enough of my waffle here are the images. Will update as I work through getting her back on the road!
