My only concern, and that I haven’t got my head around, is whether both gauges will read at half the value due to having a signal “shared” between two gauges. Is this correct?
Thanks, H

If for some reason you wanted two temperature gauges, you could always fit a thermostat housing with a sender take off point and take the second feed from there for one of the gauges. I think I would just stick to the one you already have in the instrument cluster (unless you are concerned about its accuracy.

Not quite sure how this helps.not as simple as that.

Not exactly scientific, but could you not run the car until the original gauge reads "normal", and the connect up the second one? See if it affects the reading.

I have had it wired up, and switched on, operating. But my question is whether the gauge is likely to be reading half value as the temp sender output is shared between two gauges.
It is likely to be reading incorrectly if it is not being supplied with 10v. Splitting wires does not halve the voltage. Have ten wires from a 12v supply and each will have 12v. But you need 10v

Short answer is no.
You'll need 2 senders or a Gauge Matcher.

Oh i had not considered that the OP might have just been using one sender and two gauges. was working on the assumption that the original was no longer to be used.

Thank you. That's what I was after, before I started cutting the loom or running new wires. It was a while ago that I had piggy backed off the cluster, so can't remember exactly how I'd connected to the same wires, but think it was fairly primative. I'll hold fire till I make up my new dash with my Racetech gauges.
I have three auxhillary guages in the centre of the dash, one of which is a Water Temp, that was the reason for wanting to do this.
