Guys. Please help! I have searched and searched and searched and I cannot find the definitive answer. I will be lowering my RSP 1 to 1.5" so will be needing lowered shocks, looks like the general concensus is either spax or Gaz adjustables.

The question is which are preffered these days?

Are you sure you need them, as long as you arnt bottoming out the dampers on full compression you would be better running std length, the more droop you have the better the car will ride ie it won't drop into big dips in the road as the damper will still be working and not fully extended

Protech, better than spax and softer than Gaz

But the suspension could dislocate without shorter shocks to hold it all together.

Hi! I have used GAZ and AGX from Minispares. The first ones are very hard even if you choose 1 on the wheel. I sold it. The AGX are very good.

I've always heard good references about AVO and the yellow/blue Bilsteins. The problem is that they are very expensive.

Regards

All good info thanks guys, if the GAZ corrode and are overly harsh I'll either either go Spax, Avo or Protech then. Don't know which will suit me best. It's a road car. Won't see the track but will definitely see some spirited driving. The current set up has been on years the cones are knackered and the KYB super gas dampers past thier best the front is very crashy.

Right, I have decided to go for these https://www.protechs...t-rear-package/

Would anyone be able to suggest the length I will require? Going for 2 finger arch gap all round.

You are lowering the car so the lowered set.

Thanks nicklouse, I thought so just wanted to make sure.

FYI for anyone interested they work out a fair bit cheaper buying them from Huddersfield Mini spares.

I bought a set of Protech shocks from Huddersfield Mini Spares, in a package that they did. I got Front and Rears shocks, quality ride height adjusters and knuckle joints, for about the same money as buying just the shocks from Protech.

To be honest I didn't use the knuckle joints, as I already had some quality ones in stock.

I’ve had spax and Gaz on previous minis,I’d be happy with either, but slightly preferred the Gaz
They were fitted on a car that was properly set up and corner weighted and I thought they were very good.-didn’t drive it on salted roads in the winter so I can’t comment on corrosion.

Thanks for all the replies, I have ordered the lowered Protechs from Huddersfield and a set of "genuine" cones from mini spares, have the Hi-Los sat new in a box of stuff I bought for it 10 years ago.

To summarise for anyone searching for an answer, I found most prefer either Spax gaz or Protech, and if lowering at all go for lowered shocks.
