No engine bay photos, do you think it is a 1972 SPI or MPI?

What I like is that the DVLA has it as "1972 Rover Mini" ?

I imagine it trundling down the assembly line in Solihull between 2 brown P6s, befuddled 70s Brummy factory workers scratching their heads.

Maybe we can make this a regular post where we place the links for all to see/laugh at?

There's at least one or two a week on Ebay - just off to check

Spoke too soon

https://www.ebay.co....rYAAOSwTIRfMCJL

Not as blatant as some as it says re-shelled - call me cynical but I don't think its a re-shell...... "re-logbooked" might be a better term !!!

And of course there is the issue mentioned in some previous posts in this topic about re-shelling with a new shell and not a previously used/registered shell

Or this one

Selling with two spare Mk1 doors - good luck fitting those to that shell... (yes I know it can be done with enough work)

At least that one actually has some originality about it but the asking price, £50K???  >_< Thats strong money for even if it was an immaculate genuine original Mk1 S. but for a bitsa its crazy, £8k would be a more realistic price for that I fear.

Good Idea, Over on the Mk1 forum: http://mk1-forum.net/viewforum.php?f=5 they have a long running thread entitled "WTH Have you seen this item on ebay" Its always very entertaining  so I'll start one on this forum too.

Oh dear, are those stick on external hinges? AFAIK you can't make external hinges work with an internal hinge door and shell? Not to mention that hideous lower dash rail... What a piece of work. Someone's gone to quite some effort to disguise its true identity.

Well, you could use external hinges if you really wanted to but it would require a fair bit of engineering and one has to ask why.
Bare in mind that the change to internal door hinges was part of the many changes between the mk2 and mk3 that were enough to be considered a new car by the design office. Mk1/2 is ADO15, and mk3 on is ADO20

Anyway. Whatever this car is, it is certainly not original, is a complete bitsa at best, and I cannot fathom where the asking price comes from. Ludicrous!
