Hi all,

I've got a mini 1000 mk3 in Australia and I've changed my mind on the 12's and 8.4" discs, so I'm fitting 7.5" brakes to accomodate 10" wheels, I love the look of the JBW cosmic wheels in 6x10. I've got just the basic black plastic arches at the moment, but wondering how much the wheels and Yoko a008's will stick out, I can't get through rego if they're outside the arches.  Anyone got any advice on these particular wheels? I'd like some wood and picket type arches one day to complete the picture. The shipping alone is 200 gbp to Australia so I don't want to stuff this up. And are the a008's a pretty good Tyre? I don't think I want the falkens and the ao32r is too soft and race car like for everyday, although they look fantastic!  I can get the wheels shipped with tyres fitted.

Thanks!

A008 is a great tyre, the Falkens are longer lasting though, more of a cruising tyre than the yoko that alot softer

They’ll poke, neg camber bottom arms and rear brackets and you’ll be fine. Belt and braces you can get the group 2 arches that are moulded from the specials, so have the same holes, and have the benefit to having the lip for arch trim (for extra width).

Edit - I have the wheels so know of the offset.
a008/s wear the same as 32s from my experience (had about 10 sets between two cars), just you start with twice the tread on a008s. Wouldn’t consider anything other for a road tyre.

The offset on them is quoted as +6, so there's likely to be about 2inches sticking out

The other thing to bear in mind is that as the wheel width increases so does the probability that the tyres will foul the wheel arch on full lock, and you'd need to reprofile the wheel arch to fix that

Thanks mate. so some slight rolling of the edge in some places on full lock? would that be hard to do?

Thanks mate. I 'm hoping they'll fit my current plastic flares in the mean time. I've got adjustable lower arms and tierods and was thinking maybe 1.5 or 2 deg neg camber front, and I've modified the rear brackets to give me 1-1.5 neg.

My mini as it looks now, I've just sold the 8.4" brakes and I'm buying 7.5" brakes to fit 10" wheels. standard plastic flares, hope they're wide enough for now

The wheels I've been looking at

The look I'm trying to replicate, similar model car so I think I can do it. These are apparently genuine old wheels but look very similar to the new ones, not sure if the offset is the same.

Any decision making help appreciated. Things here in Australia are mega expensive so we often buy from UK, but we have to buy sight unseen and trust our advice on the forums sometimes.
