hello im rebulding my engine  998cc  a plus

so  im upgrading  the camshaft plus 20  pistons .

budget is tight  i was going to buy a new stage 3 head.

so now i intend  to rebuid  the one i have  so ive stripped it measured valves they need changing so im going to change also the  valve guuides 

questiion do i need to change the valve seats  or can i leave the old ones in?

going to get it cleaned  at the the machine shop and get all the carbon build up  

any suggestions and advice warmly welcome

New guides means getting the seats recut.

 

to be honest leave the guides and seat cutting to a machine shop.

They can but very unlikely. 
 

so like I said machine shop to remove and fit the guides and then recut the seats.

Unless the head has inserts in it, there is no removable seat as the valve seats are cut straight onto the iron of the head.
If it has inserts fitted they’re unlikely to be worn as they’re usually very hard wearing.
If you replace the valve guides you will need the seats recutting.

It’s pretty gummed up but I’m sure it will clean up ok
