Hi there! I got a set of articulated hinges from minivation but... they have closed the website (so no install guide) and Ben hadn't replied my messages for weeks so I would like to know if someone that installed them could take some photos...I managed to install the hinges but I have no clue about how to mount the gas struts on my MPI. Hopefully someone will help me  :shy:

Although this is a Clubman, i'm sure they will have been very similarly mounted.

Bare in mind though this was the original mounting method

This is the modified mounting hardware, just the plates. The bolts and captive nut plates are mine.

This is where they are mounted to prevent the corner of the bonnet lifting up.

Thank you so much but the struts mounts for the MPI are very different, I hope that someone with a saloon Mini and this hinges will show me how to mount it

No worries, although i do believe the roundnose bonnets had issues with lifting in the corners. Don't quote me on that though.

Mine (also Clubman) had issues with the rear lifting and they always seemed a bit weedy i.e. the locking pin broke off in a gust of wind very soon after fitting them , I went back to the originals.

I don't want to put you off, the concept is great, I just thought they were a bit lightweight.

As I just returned to the mini scene, I totally missed these kind of hinges.

Two questions:
1) How well do they operate?
2) Is it something that I could make myself as minivation is not longer making/selling these anymore..

If you have the equipment to hand, the right materials then it’s possible but not straight fwd.
As to how well they operate. Now that I have added the additional brackets to relocate the dampers they work well. The additional brackets were for removing some of the loads on the dampers which caused issues with the back of the bonnet sticking up.

To clarify do you mean he is prepared to sell the drawings or make the hinges?

Question on how they operate.

Opening the bonnet they are roughly in the same position as standard hinge, how do you then get them to extend as shown in the pic when fitted to bonnet? Do you lift the front of the bonnet, lift the back or pull forward and do you do this when it’s in the horizontal or 45degree position?

Will be the drawings (or the whole Minivation pack) as he is on doing other stuff.

They articulated so have a look at this, hope it helps.
