There is normally a threaded hole on (or near) the triangular strengthening bracket that has a screw in it for those earth cables.

Dizzy should take power from the coil - red to +ve; black to -ve.  However post a picture pf the existing coil connections so we can check it isn't a ballast supplied type

It is not the white/red cables - I can't work out what they'd be for in that location, unless it is the auto inhibitor switch.

Bang on Graeme and a good guess on the white red wires, they are indeed for the inhibitor switch

These should just be joined together

White/red are often something to do with the starter - don't know if that's the case here?

Ahh, not in this case!

Hi I've converted from an SPI  to carb so original distributor was an SPI, new loom from Autosparks for a carb mini, (what's the inhibitor switch for ) are the white black cables to the coil ? coil is Lucas sport coil as from Keith Calver

Inhibitor switch for the automatic transmission cars, it's basically a switch so the car doesn't start in drive or reverse

The white/black should be on the negative side of the coil.

The positive side should have a white cable to it.

You might need to join the white/red together if the car won’t turn over on the key.
