Can anyone give feedback on the van/estate/pick-up fuel tanks that Mini Spares sell? They list 3 different types (Genuine, non-genuine and stainless) and I was wondering if anyone has had issues with fit/quality etc?

Cheers,

Dean

I ordered one earlier in the year, it was the non-genuine one but I think I was sent a stainless one instead! Either way it's great quality and the previous one had lasted for years (only issue was I'd overtightened the sender fittings so it leaked - my fault)

I had a stainless one, Canadian, I think. It was a pig to fit. The neck was slightly off, so getting the rubber neck grommet to fit took ages.

It began leaking from the sender screws. The design allowed the petrol to creep along the thread. My local mini man sorted it; it was poorly designed.

My only hesitation at a stainless tank is if it is in direct contact with the Body anywhere is will cause the body to rust and in short time.

I fitted a non genuine tank on my Clubby Estate, the flange that the mounting screws go through is too deep but we cut it down leaving the complete roll weld in place, we also had to tweak the positioning of the neck to let it sit in the shroud.

As for the fuel sender leaking, mine has been leak free since it was fitted but I used a Cork gasket and a fine smear of RTV sealer on either side, taking care to keep the bolt threads clear of sealant.
